Final Reflection

This year has been fun because I have learnt a lot of things about the world and I have learnt lots of new vocabulary. I think that I  have improved my English by doing redaccions in my house each week, for example: self evaluation and the news, these are the best for learning because they are essays in which  you have to read and write and learn a lot of vocabulary.

This year, second Batxillerato has been a challenge for me, for the moment I'm struggling to get through and pass selectivity to able to to study at university. This still very difficult and I honestly do not know if I shall pass course, but anyway this year in English I have learned many words and ways of speaking correctly and have  teacher who will always be by my side supporting me.

And a unique word: awesome

 REFORMS IN MY BARN

The barn is one of the best places of my house, especially for me, because I go there from Monday to Friday, some weekends, and the rest of the family don´t go there.

First, I made some changes to improve its image, for example I hung motocross t-shirts of famous people on the wall, I removed the pictures and I tidied the things which I don’t use every day. Second with my father’s help I made a small gym, there is a weight bench, a punch bag, a running machine and finally another machine. I do exercises every day in the evening or in the afternoon to maintain and to improve my physical strength. This and football which is useful for my motocross training.

Moreover, in the barn there is a bed, two mattresses, a showroom and a kitchen. So, it is a really good place to meet with my friends, furthermore we had some dinners and then we slept there, we watched films, we played play station 3, and so on.

Summary of my book: Prisioners of the Amazon

The book begins with the crash of a plane traveling from Miami to Argentina and crashes into the Amazon jungle and the only survivors are Captain John Gates, Cathy Jones, Jane Dixon, Wilhelm Brunt.

 When getting into the jungle are the Yanomami, an Indian tribe that welcomes them in their village. Later the 4 survivors begin their long journey till the Amazon River, for help. There they meet a scientist named Hans van Lunsen.

 Hans van Lunsen it plans to kill them when they learn his terrible secret that consist about illegal animal trading. Brunt allies with Lunsen, but the other survivors plan to stop and save.

Finally with the help of the Yanomami tribe, survivors get away with pales and ask for help to save.

Japan: Children in Institutions Denied Family Life

First let me start with the definition of Human Rights: " A right which is believed to belong to every person".
Every person means from new born to old.
The  Human Rights investigators have decided that the Institutes for children in Japan don't prepare the children for life when they leave from the various institutes. Thousands of children are taken away from their families when the people of  social security in Japan they think that the parents can't look after the children.


Human Right want that Japan changes the system of the Institutes to prepare these children for life outside of Institutes.  


I don't know if the situation is different here in Spain but I hope that it is different to Japan.
An individual can't changes the situation but a world wide organization has more possibilities to make the changes for example an organization like ONU or OTAN.

Package holiday boom's deadly legacy: Huge rise in skin cancer cases since 1970s blamed on sunshine getaways

This article explains that in the past 40 years cases of skin cancer have rise by 7 times.

It also tells us that 13000 people per year suffer from malignant melanoma. 

Now skin cancer is the fifth highest cancer in the world specially in women of 20 years old. 

Experts think that the fashion of package holiday of the years 60-70 they have the blame.

This cancer can start if one time when you are young and you burn and appeares later in life. If we continue with the obsession that we are brown the numers of people with this cancer will rise.  

It also mentions that sunbeds are very dangerous for this type of cancer because exaggerate the obsession of sunbathing .

Cancer Research UK think that by 2027 the numbers of this cancer increase from 13000 to 20000.

Every year 2000 people die of skin cancer in U.K.  

In my opinion this article is very important  and I believe that this article should be read all over the world. It is true that when summer arrives  everyone wants a suntan and a lot of times people do not think the consequences.

1st MAY 2014

Yesterday, my parents and my brother and I spent all day in “Cadaqués” because I had a football match at six o’clock in the afternoon, so we made the most the sunny day to go to the beach in “Port Lligat”. There,  Sergi and I did the first practice of spearfishing of the year and it couldn’t have started better. I caught five fishes with my new weapon which was brought by the three magic kings.

Furthermore, we made a small boat with some wood and fishing line that we found on the same beach. I would like to tell you that this invention floated and it went inwards to the sea.

We arrived at the beach at eleven o’clock and we left there at quarter past four, due to the fact that I had to be at the football ground at half past four.

Then my team was coming and when they arrived we started to train and finally we played the match. The final result was “Cadaqués”, zero and “Esplais”, seven.

In conclusion, it was a fantastic day and I would like repeat it again, because on one hand we fished some beautiful fishes and on the other hand we won the match with a big difference.

THREE HOURS OF RESISTENCE IN PERALADA

Some weeks ago, on 14^th April, in the village of Peralada, the first race of resistance of ACCEMA, Championship took place. This race consisted in doing the maximum laps which were possible during three hours. The team that did more laps was the winner. To participate in this race you could ride alone or with a partner, so I rode with a friend called Tete Fort.

Firstly, there were timed workouts which lasted around an hour and I did the second best lap. After that, I and Tete made our strategy; it consisted in riding more or less, 30 minutes each one and to warn to change we had to make a special signal. Secondly, there was the big race. We didn’t have a good start and we had to remount. Every hour our position was improving, but the track was very hard and difficult because there were a lot of stones and dust.

Finally, we finished sixth and although our hands and arms were aching, we had really enjoyed the race.

This article is about children and smoking. A boy of 9 years old called a medical help line to ask for help to stop smoking. The boy of Shropshire became addicted after smoking in school.

The experts know that under-age smokers will have terible health problems. 

Smoking in the young people is very popular because they think that it is "cool" but after they became addicts. Many have problems with pressure from friends. 

What is new is that a boy of only 9 years old called the help line. 

In my opinion I think that smoking is stupid. I don't understand why people start to smoke. Smoking is dangerousfor the health and is very expensive.

EVERY THING YOU DOWNLOAD ONLINE SHOULLD HAVE A TAX

Nowadays there is a discussion between the people who download something online on Internet and the authors of these downloads.

The reason of that is if the things which we are downloading online should have a tax or not.

I understand and I know the author’s opinion about this tax in anything which is downloaded online. I don’t agree with it, on one hand because I do these actions and on the other hand, I’m not the author. I think that if these things are on Internet although they know the different programmes to do download; it’s for a reason, isn’t it?

Another main reason in my point of view is the download of a specific music thing, for example a one song, so I won’t buy the CD if I only like one song.

Finally, these actions can’t be controlled, because in my opinion there always will be some programme or a way to download online something for free.   

Freedom of Expression:

Expression through music, dance, art, how we dress, how we behave. If we don't disturb other people why can't we express our personality how we want ? Society dictates how we should behave, however this isn't correct. Each person is different, if is different clothes, piercings, tattoos, different hair style, dancing, singing... why not?


The freedom of expression is accepted in most of Europe and America, Australia and New Zealand but the problem is with countries where the most important is religion.

This article is about the plane that disappeared and how they solved the mystery.

The company Inmarsat used radar ping and mathematical model to find out that MH370 actually crashed in the Indian Ocean, and all the passangers had been killed. 

Inmarsat used a nineteenth century mathematics models called : Doppler effect to interpret the information.

Investigators are sure that the flight was suicide mission.

They found that radar pings continued after all communications had stopped.

This showed the plane continued flying hours after it disappeared.

In my opinion I believe that this article is very sad but untill they find the plane I think that there is a possibility that all pasangers are alive. However this time must be very difficult for the  families of the passangers.

This article explains that there is new invention for protection against sunburn. A watch has been invented to measure sun exposure and tell people when is dangerous to be in the sun. 

The designers want to remove the need for suncream because suncream possibly causes less vitamin D production and we need vitamin D for bone density and calcium.

They hope that this watch can help with problems of vitamin D deficiency.

In my opinion I think that this new invention is a very good because anything that helps the health of people is a good idea. The sun can cause a lot of problemes especially CANCER of the skin and especially is a good idea  for English people and pale skinned people.

FAST FOOD PRODUCTS SHOULD CONTAINS A HEALTH WARNING LIKE TOBACO

Obesity is the main cause of a lot of deaths in our world.

 Unfortunately these numbers have been increasing in the past years, because there is more unhealthy food and people eat more fast food products.

 First of all, one of the possibilities to reduce these illnesses is putting a health warning on each fast food, for example the kcal, the fat which it contains and so on. I think that it’s a good idea, because everyone will know what they are eating.

 Secondly another action to improve the health of our society is change the quality of the products or as I said before, advise what it contains.

 Finally, we have to try to eat more healthy food or it is said that every fast food product should contain the information about its ingredients.

Falling in love.

Have you ever fallen in love? Have you ever felt butterflies in your stomach?

To fall in love has its advantages and disavantages.

• On the one hand the advantages are manyfold:

             - One of them is that there is always someone by your side.

             - Moreover you can always stay with your couple and you can talk about the daily relationship problems.

             - Wake up every morning with your girlfriend or boyfriend. 

• On the other hand disavantatges are many:

              - You can not talk to your friends if your couple ir jealous.

              - You can not go to party every week with your friends.

              - You can't comment anything of other girls or boys.

In conclusion I am among those who think that being in love is cool.

Self evaluation:

I believe that my presentation was interesting but too short and too technical. It only lasted more or less 4 - 5 minutes. I used Power Point with a lot of images with colours and signals. When I was doing my presentation I looked at the audience but more at the teacher. I used hand movements and I tried to use changes of tone voice. I included discourse markers, for example: First of all, finally, to continued etc. and connectors like: next, then, after, etc. I think that my grammar was correct and my presentation was fluent.

In my opinion my oral presentation wasn't the best I could do, it was very short and I think that my research project was difficult to explain and that a lot of people didn't understand.

In conclusion I agree with my final mark : 6,5 but I wanted to do better.

In addition "D-Shirt" registers route and altitude and all the information can be sent to smart phones. Possibly to your phone or the phone of your personal trainer.

In addition this T-Shirt is very light and washable.

Finally I think that this new invention called "D-Shirt"could save lives in the future but this new invention for sure will be for rich people.

This invention is a clear example of how we are evolving and as we use more and more technology in our lives.

In my opinion I think this is a great invention for society. Any invention that persuades us to do exercise is positive.

Carnival 

This year I will dress up as an Eskimo. We will be a group of about 69 people where more than half of us are First and Second Batxillerato. The guys we will dress up as Eskimos and  the girls will dress up as Polar Beasr.

This year we decided to create a float in the shape of an igloo to listen to our music and keep our stuff.

 3 weeks to start Carnival and our float still needs a lot of work to finish it but sure we will finish it.

We are all working hard to finish the float on time and to have the float finished in less than 3 weeks- nobody knows how it will happen.

In my opinion I think it has been a good idea to do a group of a lot of people because I think we'll have a good and an unforgettable experience.

Now just have to wait and see, like everybody.

It tells us the quantity of sugar in the food that we eat every day. This news article describes that a lot of foods that we don't think are unhealthy actually contain a large quantity of sugar.

A professor of cardiovascular medicine at Barts and the London Hospital, Graham MacGregor, revealed that the food industry  puts sugar in the food so we eat more. The worst is that we don't know so much sugar. Did you know that a one can of Coca-Cola contains 9 teaspoons of sugar?

This Reserch Project is a about SCOLIOSIS, that is a deviation of the vertebral column. The  project is divided in to two parts:

This disease effects more young girls than other ages and males .

World without Internet

First of all I have to say that I'm about  think that a world without Internet It was chaotic.

On the one hand, I believe that a world with internet is very positive for our lives, because Internet has made our lives a lot easier , for example: Communicate with each other with brief messages without paying, buy items without moving from home and the most important we can inform about what is happening around the world with only one click. 

On the other hand, the negative part of the Internet is that Internet also can be dangerous and can effect our lives because Internet is not safe, for example: The information that we search  for on Internet and find  is not all reliable and It can affect us in a bad way, Internet is full of viruses that can affect our softwares or smart phones and the most important aspect to consider is that  on Internet there are a lot of fraudster and hackers. 

Despite all the negative things that Internet  has and its dangers, Internet is part of our lives because we need to live and work every day.

In conclusion I think that a world without Internet would be impossible to continue living this way and with these luxuries and could bring a third world war to dominate Internet and be able to use Internet.
